This Cinnamon Clove Balsamic Reduction is so versatile. A must have for every gourmet pantry.
One can easily find a wide range of gourmet balsamic glazes at the supermarket. But take a close look at the ingredients…
Most of them contain copious amounts of junk ingredients and copious amounts of sugar. Why oh why? I love this article that sums up some of the reasons why sugar is bad for you.
I am a bit of a gourmet and every gourmet pantry should have a bottle of balsamic reduction. It can instantly dress up any dish.
How to enjoy a balsamic reduction
I enjoy it on salads, grilled meat and desserts, even ice cream. Just a drizzle is all you need to feel like you’re dining at a five-star restaurant.
Easy Peasy balsamic reduction
This balsamic reduction can be made with a basic bottle of balsamic vinegar. No need to buy the expensive stuff. Simmer the vinegar with your sweetener of choice and optional spices and that’s it.

Here are a couple ways to use this balsamic reduction
Cinnamon Clove Balsamic Reduction
Ingredients
- 1 cup of balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of coconut sugar honey or maple syrup
- 1 cinnamon stick
- a few cloves
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients to a small saucepan.
- Bring to a boil then reduce the heat and maintain at a simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes stirring occasionally.
The smaller the saucepan the longer it will take to reduce. Keep an eye on it as it can quickly burn. The mixture will reduce to about ¾ cup and will continue to thicken as it cools.
- Remove spices.
- Store in a glass container at room temperature.
I made this!!!!! It’s easy to do, very tasty and versatile as it can be used with a variety of meats and salads. Thank you Krystal.
