

This lemon water elixir promises to naturally detox your body and give both your metabolism and immune system a bit of a boost!
I have been starting my day with a glass of warm lemon water since the beginning of my health and wellness journey. As I delved more into healthy eating and using food as medicine I discovered apple cider vinegar with all its amazing health benefits.
I started making an elixir of apple cider vinegar, raw honey and cinnamon. I alternated between these two drinks until one day I decided to combine them. And so the lemon water elixir was created.
When I stopped drinking lemon water elixir
During my first trimester of pregnancy I suffered from nausea. It seemed like everything I ate or drank made my nausea worse including lemon water elixir so I stopped drinking it each morning. My instincts told me that this was bad but the nausea just got the better of me.
One day I felt severe pain in my back. I dismissed it as a pregnancy related growing pain and tried to take it easy for a couple days. When my symptoms did not improve I paid my midwife a visit. Turned out that I had kidney stones. As soon as I returned home I got online to search for natural remedies for kidney stones. Guess what I found?
Lemon juice and apple cider vinegar were the most common natural remedies for kidney stones. I ran into the kitchen and whipped up my lemon water elixir and continued to have it 3 times a day for a couple days. By day two my symptoms improved. I must have passed out those little suckers because within 1 week my symptoms went away. Made me wonder what other ailments my lemon water elixir has been fighting.
Why should I drink this lemon water elixir?
Good liver function is crucial for overall health and wellbeing. A poorly functioning liver causes sluggish digestion, flatulence and bloating.
When taken regularly this lemon water elixir acts as a tonic to the liver aiding its daily digestive and cleansing functions. The health benefits of this lemon water elixir does not end there.

First thing in the morning on an empty stomach. It is best to use a straw as the acidity of the lemon juice may erode teeth enamel. I recently purchased these glass straws from Amazon and could not be happier!
As with all natural remedies I implore you.. please do not expect overnight miracles!

Lemon Water Elixir
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
- Juice of ½ lemon approx 2 tablespoons
- 1 teaspoon organic ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon raw honey optional
- Dash of organic cayenne pepper
- 2 cups warm or room temperature water
- glass straw for sipping
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients together in a glass jar
- To protect your teeth drink through a glass straw

Hi Maria since this recipe is all whole real foods I consider it safe however since I do not know your full medical history I cannot say for certain.
Some years ago I began to combine a mixture of match tea powder, turmeric, ginger, black pepper, 1/2 tsp. MCT oil and a tsp. of local raw honey to my warm lemon water. I drink this upon rising before coffee + collagen. Bye bye indigestion.
